childrens photography: hello to everyone who made a booking at magnolia square on the weekend!! I am endeavoring to be in contact with each of you by the end of next week to finalise an actual date for your session. I have bookings all the way out to april next year... so arranging the calendar is quite a job in itself but so far so good!!

we had sooo much fun at magnolia square tiny & small... here's a pic of our stand (and yep, that's me! and yet another reason as to why i'm always behind the camera rather than in front of it!! i'm such a goose!)

it was such a blast meeting all of you and i look forward to our sessions with your little birds!!

it was such a great event on so many levels... meeting and befriending so many other small business owners and mums, chatting (in person) to people who regularly check out my blog (amazing!) and have such wonderful things to say, having fellow photographers dropping by to say hello and share their support and encouragement! Hi Dione, Elise & Angie!! AND BEING VOTED EQUAL SECOND for our beautiful display (now that was a surprise!!) not to mention having all those quality businesses to buy from... and boy did i take advantage of that!!!

And thanks sooo much to my helpers kylie (my gorgeous sister-in-law), dione (pregnant and absolutely gorgeous in the white apron we had printed for her) and of course Prue (well... you know she has just helped me with absolutely everything to do with my business - thank you, thank you, thank you!!!)

childrens photography: these gorgeous little guys flew in from japan only a couple of days before their shoot!! they'll only be here 2 weeks before flying home again... i am so glad that their mum had the idea to book in a session during their visit!! it was such a lovely and fun session. i know i've said it before but my job is wonderful!!! I'm just so lucky that i get to share in the lives of so many wonderful children and inspiring families. btw, the little girl & bright eyed baby are their cousins who weren't technically part of the shoot ... but i grabbed a couple of shots of them anyway... they were all just soooo gorgeous!

harry just got some great news... we got our 4 year old kinder offers and we're tickled pink that harry got into the kinder and session we had hoped for!! (who knew kinder placement was such a worry?)

harry loves this pic because his head looks like it's the transformers head.... granted it does!
i love this pic because it was taken the morning we covered our floor in bubble wrap so that we could dance to our own popping groove. i really recommend it! singing and dancing is ALWAYS on the menu at our place but bubble wrap dancing was an extra special treat (i'm sure the boys loved it too!!)

childrens photography: It was so nice having a lazy sunday morning with my 3 gorgeous boys!! rob made pancakes (his weekend ritual) and we all stayed in our pj's til well after noon...

the boys ALWAYS have a lot of energy to burn... pancakes just add a little fuel....

and then... the inevitable... 'let's snuggle'......

This is a little family ritual of ours and i just thought i should record it as time does go by so very quickly. Also, my calendar is filling (especially weekends) so i know i'll be lazing around with my 3 gorgeous boys less and less.....

pancakes, laughter, family and snuggles... does it get any better than this?

i just hope every mum had as lovely a day as i had yesterday with my 2 snuggly boys.
I couldn't have wished for more beautiful gifts....
"do you just love your beautiful necklace mummy?.... the black ones are darth vader, the green ones are ninja turtles!" - little boys... gotta love em'!

I did have a shock over the weekend though, i had to fill in my harry's kindergarten application for next year. kinder next year... then school!!!! and little tom... well, he's really a little boy now and no longer a baby!! uh, oh.... no, i'm not getting clucky! - I'M NOT!

My website is almost complete. It'll be up before we know it. All this hard work re-branding has been worth it. Harry & Me really has grown into something I am so very proud of and happy to throw my arms around and call my own. Little Bird Photography. My logo, booklets, products, (ooh I mustn't give away too many surprises) and now my website are all complete (well right on the verge) and they are beautiful and represent me and my art perfectly. What a joy!

And thank you for all your encouragement and support during this challenging and exciting time of re-branding. Always hard to know if you're doing the right thing when you have an established brand. But i couldn't be happier with my decision and it's so nice to see familiar faces returning with their growing little birds.

My website will be up for all to enjoy shortly and i can't thank prue enough (again) for all her amazing design ideas and convincing me not to use a template and to go with my heart and create something really special. It really is special. I was going to provide a sneak peak but have decided i should wait until the launch... no peaking... oooh, it is the cherry on top!

we are so close now and the logo captures everything i had hoped it would!! (thank you prue and van!) it is still very much being finalised but i mashed this together to give you a feel as to what we are aiming to achieve... we are so close now and i am so in love with my whimsical tree and my little bird!!

also... we have named our little bird... her name is mimi!!! did your heart just melt a little? i know.. how gorgeous and how perfect! my friend prue (yes, same name but with an e) has been helping me with all this and she is an absolute star. so i named our little bird after prue's daughter mimi. prue informs me (to make it all the more perfect... that mimi means little kiss.. like a peck!!) i love my tree, i love my mimi and i love my prue. thanks prue. (and i know prue that we haven't finalised all this yet but i just could not wait to put it out there for all to see!)

a gift for me!

yesterday, megan and her 2 gorgeous boys tom and nick came by for their viewing and image selection... they gave me a gift and a fabulous card saying 'thank you and congratulations on the launch of little bird' - I love it!! how sweet are they!? This was the 3rd time i have photographed their gorgeous family... being invited into their life 3 times and being able to capture and enjoy those two little birds growing has been a real privilege for me.

why the name change?

firstly, welcome to my blog and to answer the crucial question...

why has 'harry & me' become 'little bird'? we thought we could convince our second child tom the ‘me’ in the business name ‘harry & me’ was him!! (are you with me?) but decided a whole new make over would be best. something that reflects me. i wanted to stop doing what i thought photographers were meant to do and start doing what i wanted to do... and so, here is little bird photography - fresh and fun, whimsical and delightful. (and a little feminine - given it is really my third baby and there’s too much testosterone around here already!!) ... and what better time to introduce the new business than with the new year!!

so we are:

little bird photography
capturing the whimsy and delight of childhood

and why whimsy?
well have you seen the definition of whimsical? there is no better way to describe little bird photography, myself and the children and families i photograph:

whimsical - whim·si·cal
1. imaginative and impulsive
2. slightly odd, old-fashioned, or playful, especially in an endearing way
3. behaving in such a way as to be impossible to predict

see what i mean??!! what else could describe photographing children better than that?

anyway, thank you for visiting my blog. I am in the process of developing my new logo (3 sample logos below), website, packaging, etc. and will keep you updated on the progress.
